WE'RE NOT BOTTOM ANY MORE
A thrilling 3-1 final day victory over Montrose allied to Forfar's 1-1 draw with Dumbarton means, for the first time in six years, Shire will not be bottom of the Third Division.
Goals from Andy Rodgers, his first for the club, Joe Savage and Michael Bolocheweckyj rescured Shire after the team had fallen behind to a first half David King own goal.
The players, officials and fans faced an anxious wait to find out the score from Station Park, which when confirmed, released an outpouring of joy and relief.
Afterwards coach Jim McInally said. "You can see how much it meant to people at the club when they celebrated as they did.
"But really, when you think about it, finishing ninth in the league is nothing much to celebrate. It's understandable given what this club has been through, but we have come here to deliver much more than that.
"We now start the hard work aimed at making sure we are not celebrating finishing ninth next year."
The club also confirmed after the game that they would be groundsharing with Stenhousemuir next season.
"It simply has become too costly to carry out all the improvements we would need to make to stay at Firs Park," said new major shareholder, Spencer Fearn.
"It makes much more financial sense to spend a period of time groundsharing while we look to build a new ground of our own," he said.
